Woodland BIO at the PA Farm Show 2024
The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation, it is always held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg, PA. This year, the event ran from January 6 to January 13. Woodland BIO was proud to volunteer at the Pennsylvania Hardwood booth, which is organized by the Pennsylvania Hardwood Development Council, a state agency that promotes the use of Pennsylvania’s forest products.
The PA Farm Show was a great opportunity to showcase our innovative technology and product, as well as to interact with the public and the industry. Our poster was on display under the sustainable forestry display, and promotional materials linking to our website were available throughout the booth.
The Pennsylvania Hardwood booth featured various hardwood products, such as furniture, flooring, cabinets, toys, and crafts, as well as educational displays and demonstrations. The WoodMobile was the center of the booth, providing an engaging environment to educate the youth about the benefits and products provided by PA’s forests.
There was a table managed by the Penn State Extension Office of Forests and Wildlife, where visitors could learn about forest ecosystems, management, stewardship practices, as well as wildlife habitat and conservation. There was another table managed by the Pennsylvania Forestry Association, where visitors could learn about the history and mission of the nation’s oldest state organization devoted to forest conservation, stewardship, and sustainability.
There were a variety of products and children’s toys made by local producers from PA hardwoods, such as puzzles, games, blocks, and cars.
Our objective was to interact with show attendees to talk about the benefits of using hardwood products in keeping PA forests healthy and sustainable. We also explained how our biomass-to-fuel process can utilize low-grade woody biomass, such as wood chips, sawdust, and bark, to produce sustainable gasoline that is chemically identical to existing fossil fuel sources.
We received positive feedback and engagement from the attendees, who expressed their interest, support, and curiosity about our technology and products. Many were surprised to learn that gasoline can be made from wood and proceeded to ask questions about the process and benefits of our project, all of which we were happy to answer.
We would like to thank the Pennsylvania Hardwood Development Council and Pennsylvania Forest Products Association (PFPA) for inviting us to volunteer at their booth and the PA Farm Show for hosting such a wonderful event. We had a great time and learned a lot from the experience. We look forward to attending the PA Farm Show again next year!
